A Dislike Button?

Dislike Button

Like? Love? Hate?

If you’ve been paying attention to the media lately, or spent time in Ireland and Spain, you would know that Facebook is bringing out an alternative to the like button.

People have been asking for a dislike button for years. You often see comments like: “I liked your post so I can unlike it again.” Well, in September this year, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook is working on launching a dislike button. In reality, it turned out to be so much more than this and not quite as harsh as a dislike button would have been.

Facebook has made this decision, because the traditional like button was just too restrictive. Imagine reading a sad post and hitting like, doesn’t quite make sense, does it? Facebook will therefore be adding a range of buttons to reflect different emotions and responses. The new buttons currently being tested are:

  • Like
  • Love
  • Yay
  • Wow
  • Sad
  • Angry

These buttons are currently being tested in Ireland and Spain. Unfortunately there is no news as to when it will spread to the rest of the world, not to mention South Africa.

One thing is for sure – this development will change the way we use Facebook for good. Do you ‘like’ it? Would you use it? Let us know!
